Many people call psychics with a question in mind, but when it is time to say something they say,” just a general psychic reading.” With the clock ticking they may hear a lot of about their hopes, dreams, wishes and past but they may hang up feeling a little cheated because they did not get their question answered.

If you ask for a vague general psychic reading of your life, that is what you will receive- a really vague answer. General psychic readings are meant to look at where a person was on their path, where they are now and the influences around them and finally where their path is headed. These are broad paths and so without knowing exactly what the client is looking for they are more like a tour guide. The psychic will point out things that seem interesting to them, but may not be interesting to the client.

To combat this problem you must have a question in mind and it is a good idea to write it down. In fact, it is a good idea to paper and pencil anyway to write notes when you are talking with your psychic.

Try to formulate your question or questions in the form of open ended questions. A closed ended is one that has one or two answers. An example of a closed ended question is one that only requires a yes or no answer.

“Will my boyfriend call me?”

This is a closed ended question. You may have had a fight with your boyfriend and are wondering if he will call you back. So you might try to create a question like:

“What do you see happening between my boyfriend and I in the next couple weeks?”

This directs the psychic reader where to look. It gives the psychic an idea of what information the client is really seeking rather than guessing. They may be intuitive readers but they are not mind readers. The difference is that they can see what is going on around you and see the path that you and others around you are on. This is different than hearing someone’s thoughts.

So before you pick up that phone and call your favorite psychic have a plan of what you want to know and have open ended questions written down so that you truly receive the answers that you are seeking.

Many people call for readings and just ask for a general overview of their life. In these types of psychic or intuitive readings the psychic spends much of that time on a spread such as the Celtic cross spread- that talks about the person’s past, present and goals. This is information that you already know. It does verify that the psychic is real as they are able to look into your life and pick things out that no one else could possibly know.

However, do you really want to pay someone to tell you what you already know? You may be wanting to know about mysteries from your past, however these are not generally seen in a general life reading. If the psychic or intuitive is not very gifted you may get vague answers that you may find your self stretching to validate. For instance, suppose your tarot reader says that you really miss your dog that died 5 years ago. You might reply,” Well I never had a dog, but my cat died last year.” If you have to make a stretch like that to validate a reader there may be five reasons they did not provide accurate information:

#1 They are not gifted, run away they are a fraud. If they are a fraud and you feel you are being taken for a ride you probably are. So politely end the call as soon as possible. Don’t get angry or hateful with the reader as they could just be suffering from one or more of the other reasons they are not giving you accurate information.

#2 You are blocking them. This may occur because you may be skeptical and blocking the flow of information. This is a common occurrence and then if the psychic reader misses with their reading, this becomes a self fulfilling prophecy. If you truly want answers from a a psychic you need to open up and give them a chance to connect with you.

#3 It is through a phone. This is a common complaint with psychics that do readings online or instant chat. They have a hard time connecting over distances this way. These types of psychics do much better when the person is sitting in front of them. You should ask if you can do a face to to face reading or find another psychic reader.

#4 They could be just having a bad day. If you trust the tarot reader you may either allow them to continue to see if things improve or you may gracefully end the call and tell them you will call them later.

#5 Personality conflict. Sometimes two people just do not mesh or connect. This happens everyday and sometimes there just is not any logical reason. If you recognize this is the case, just politely end the consultation and move to the next psychic.
